Hello! My name is Zahara, and I am a Pastry Chef from Melbourne, Australia. Thank you for stopping by to visit ten thousand hours. The short story behind all this is that my husband, Ed, and I are moving to Paris at the end of 2016 (let’s call it a mini move, because it’s not really a ‘pick-up-my-entire-life-and-move-to-another-country-forever-ever-ever-Ms Jackson’) type of move.
We are heading over to live in the the city otherwise known as the grand daddy of Patisserie. I hope to sharpen my skills and open my eyes to a bucket load of inspiration. Over the next year or so I am going to try my level best to work in a Patisserie in Paris, while improving my French, travelling and eating my way through all the cakes. This is a diary to catalogue that process, largely because I believe that early onset dementia for nearly thirty year olds is real, and I have it, you guys. Mostly, however, it is a means to keep me sane while my brain is swirling and settling into some new routines, experiences and adventures.
For now, I just wanted to say ‘Hi’ and let you all know that ten thousand hours is up and running. I can’t wait to see where it goes and I’m looking forward to sharing stories and photos with you all.
Have a sparkly and peaceful Christmas with all your loved ones around you.
